After graduating with a degree in Social Work, I worked with children, young people and families for many years. In recent years I have invested myself into training in some of the most evidence based models for counselling. This is to ensure that you find lasting change for your life.
I work with clients through NDIS, Victims Services and EAP funding as well as in private practice.
- PTSD and complex trauma , including recovery from domestic violence and sexual assault
- Mental health concerns with anxiety and depression
- Separation and divorce , including support for children
- Couple counselling with a focus on supporting couples with trauma and / or mental health challenges
- Family counselling with children or adult children
I use the following models in my counselling work:
- EMDR ( eye movement desensitisation and processing) for adults, teenagers and children
- Trauma informed CBT ( cognitive behavioural therapy)
- Somatic based therapies , including sensory motor psychotherapy and others which consider the whole self – body, mind and emotions
- Skill building using the body, including breath and muscle relaxation
- Skill building for relationships including communication, conflict resolution and assertiveness
- Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) for impulse control and emotional regulation
- Attachment based therapies such as Emotion Focused Therapy and Theraplay
- Play therapy and creative therapies, using sand tray, art and movement for children
- Models embedded in neuroscience including polyvagal theory
I will create a safe place for you and your loved ones.
In the process I will be committed to you , your goals, celebrating your successes and supporting you to find solutions to your life. I won’t be taking a stab in the dark with you, over your life.
I have a clear map which we can follow, which is evidence- based, showing us what direction to head in, for long-lasting change. If I don’t have the right answers, I will try to find them for you or refer you to another person who might help.
